Helping children through play.
Just like adults, all children experience difficulties at some time in their lives. Things can happen that can be upsetting, make them angry, worried or frightened. Maybe something has happened in their lives that they are finding hard to deal with or maybe they are experiencing general feelings of anxiety that they find hard to manage.
Most children don’t find it easy to talk about their feelings or problems but they are very good at playing. Play is children’s natural way of expressing themselves, it can be used by children to process life experiences, difficult feelings and overcome challenges.
I provide 1 to 1 therapy sessions for children, which take place on a weekly basis The time spent in the play room provides a confidential, safe space for a child to use the medium of play to work through things that are bothering them and to begin to make sense of them. Play Therapy aims to help children acknowledge their feelings in a constructive way and give them strategies for coping with the difficulties they face.
